The 516 Arouca Bridge is the largest suspended pedestrian bridge in the world. It is located in Arouca, in the district of Aveiro, next to the famous Passadiços do Paiva . It is 516 meters long and 175 meters above the Paiva River.

Its name comes from its length (516 meters) and the municipality where it is located (Arouca).

Crossing the bridge is an adventure, a unique sensation! You can look ahead and abstract yourself from the grandeur and grandeur of this structure, or admire and appreciate the magnificent landscape that your view encompasses: the Garganta do Paiva, the Cascata das Agueiras, the monumental staircase of the Passadiços do Paiva, the clarity of the Paiva River.

The 516 Arouca Bridge is a prodigious work of innovative engineering and architecture, worthy of being admired. Secured by concrete structures, it has a metal railing tray, permeable to the wind, with a width of 1.20 meters, which allows you to admire the scenery beneath your feet.

To visit the bridge, there are two possible entrances: Canelas or Alvarenga. However, at any of the entrances there is identified parking.

If you start your visit in Canelas (Areinho), you should leave your vehicle in the Areinho car park and follow the Passadiços do Paiva to the bridge, which is approximately 1200 meters away. However, this route presents a high degree of difficulty, as you need to climb 500 steps to reach the entry point, taking approximately 1 hour.

If you prefer to start your visit in Alvarenga, you should park your vehicle in Albisqueiros, which is 1000 meters from the bridge, and follow the marked route. This route is easier and takes approximately 20 minutes. It's a pleasant route, essentially through an interesting village.
