Savica waterfall is a striking karst waterfall above Lake Bohinj that you reach via a short but steep trail from the small Savica paid car park; expect a 10–20 minute climb with many stone steps that are often wet and slippery and a small entrance fee at the trailhead. Go in the morning or after rain or the spring thaw for the best flow, because in dry summer the cascade can be much reduced. Wear sturdy shoes and a waterproof layer, bring a few euros or a card for the ticket, and arrive early because parking and the compact viewing platform get crowded; it pairs well with a walk around Lake Bohinj or a stop in nearby Ukanc. To capture the wild atmosphere without man made fences and the small dam, move as close as possible and shoot through the opening. Use a tripod for longer exposure and put on a polarising filter to bring out the color of the water.
