When you visit Park Škocjanske jame, you join guided tours through dramatic underground canyons and huge caverns at a UNESCO site; tours leave from the visitor center and typically last about 1 to 1.5 hours, so book ahead in high season. Inside it is cool and damp year round, around 10 to 12 °C, and trails are uneven with many stairs, so wear sturdy shoes and a warm layer; large bags, tripods and flash photography are often restricted and most of the cave is not wheelchair accessible. You can reach the park by car with on-site parking or by bus from nearby Divača, and plan on 2 to 3 hours to see the exhibition, take the cave tour and visit the viewpoints above the chasms.
