🚗 Grab:

Cheapest way to get around in big Cities. We also use it for food delivery.

🚌12Go Asia:

Perfect for downloading bus and ferry tickets directly to your cell phone. We needed it again and again on our travels. In Vietnam we need it all the time.

Alternative, you can check Vexere and Phuong Trang. These are local apps and can be cheaper, but we didn't test them.

🗺️Google Maps:

A must-have on any trip. Pin our POI on your Google Maps. Download offline maps for Vietnam in advance.

💬Google Translate:

In the more touristy places, English is spoken reasonably well almost everywhere, but as soon as you travel to more rural areas, it becomes difficult. But to be on the safe side, download Vietnamese on Google Translate. Good for conversations or translating menus.

🛏️Booking.com/ Agoda / Airbnb:

Classic for accommodation with worldwide offers. HERE

💱Wise/Revolut:

Travel Credit cards are king. We have both and they were extremely useful. You can pay in so many currencies and withdraw money free of charge.

📱NordVPN:

For secure internet access on public Wi-Fi; handy for security or streaming purposes. HERE

📱Airalo:

We almost always got a SIM card via Airalo. Super easy, online right after landing. Top up when you need it again. HERE

📱My Viettel App:

If you want to get a local SIM card, Viettel is the right choice. We tried Viettel and had a good experience. You can get a small data package at the airport (or even better, at a local SIM shop, but only official ones) and top it up later (cheaper!) via the app. The app is not in English but it should work if you can translate with Google Translate.
