⚠️This is a border permit region!⚠️

How to get here- If departing from Narynn, there's a 4 hour drive to Kok Kiya Valley. Expect to lose service almost immediately. The road starts off on a paved highway, but after about 45 kilometers will turn into a gravel road. The road conditions will turn into something that doesn't feel like a road at all after about two hours. For the majority of the drive, you won't see any buildings, or people. About 3 hours into the journey, you'll come across a lonely post. This is border control. Present your passport and valid permit to continue through. The final stretch of the journey will be a windy road descending into the valley.

Where to stay here- There are many yurt camps scattered throughout the valley, which you can either book online ahead of time or find upon arrival by asking locals. During the busy summer months, there are hundreds of yurts, so finding a bed is rarely an issue. Expect to pay about 3000 SOM per person per night.

What to do here- The main attraction here is the hike to Kol-Suu Lake, a vibrant alpine lake surrounded by towering peaks. Besides hiking, you can take horseback rides around the valley or simply immerse yourself in local nomadic life.

For most travelers, 1-2 nights is the ideal amount of time to experience the valley fully.
