Muttonbird Island is an awesome spot to visit if you're into wildlife and stunning views. The island is part of Coffs Harbour’s Solitary Islands Marine Park and offers a fantastic walking trail that's about 2.6 kilometers round trip. The trail is easy and takes you through some pretty amazing coastal scenery and has a rich Aboriginal history. As you walk, you’ll get to enjoy breathtaking lookouts that offer panoramic views of the ocean and the surrounding coastline.

The island is named for the muttonbirds (or shearwaters) that nest here in large numbers, especially during their breeding season from September to April. These seabirds are a highlight, and you might catch a glimpse of them as they come and go. Besides the birds, the island's rugged beauty and the occasional sighting of dolphins or whales make it a truly memorable visit. I saw a sea turtle as I walked along the harbor and so many colorful fish. Whether you're into wildlife, hiking, or just soaking up the scenery, Muttonbird Island is definitely worth a trip.
