Natural sinkhole for swimming

Little Blue Lake is a cool spot where you can take a dip in a natural sinkhole surrounded by cliffs. Located between two dormant volcanoes, Mount Schank and Mount Gambier, this little gem used to turn blue like its famous neighbor, the Blue Lake. The lake was formed in a disused limestone quarry, and the bright color comes from the unique mineral content of the water; however, nowadays, it's more of a green hue.

It’s free to visit, so you can enjoy the view without spending a cent. The water here is incredibly cool, usually around 12-14°C (53-57°F), so for me, it’s way too cold for a dip. However, it is very popular on a hot day to jump in. If you’re bold enough to swim, just remember it’s deep, so only experienced swimmers should take the plunge. And no cliff jumping allowed—safety first! Once you arrive, there’s a short walk from the carpark to the lake's edge, where you can take in the stunning scenery. I’d recommend bringing your camera for this one; though the lake’s color is incredible in person, it’s a bit tricky to capture just how vibrant it is in photos.
