The Wineglass Bay Track and Hazards Beach Track in Freycinet National Park, Tasmania, is a fantastic 11.5-kilometer loop that showcases the best of what the park has to offer. This hike is perfect for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers who want to fully immerse themselves in the park's stunning landscapes.
You can tackle the loop in either direction based on your preference for a challenge. If you choose to go clockwise, you’ll face a steep ascent up the stairs to Wineglass Lookout. The breathtaking views of Wineglass Bay from the lookout make the climb well worth it. This was the route I took, and it definitely gave me a good workout before I relaxed on the beach. If you prefer a gentler start, go counterclockwise for a more gradual climb and a smoother approach to the lookout.
The trail has stunning views throughout, including expansive sights of Wineglass Bay’s pristine beach, dramatic rocky coastlines, and the serene Hazards Beach. Along the way, there are plenty of opportunities for birdwatching and spotting wildlife, making it a haven for nature lovers.I spent a few hours soaking up the experience at each beach. At Wineglass Bay, I enjoyed swimming and sunbathing, while at Hazards Beach, I hunted for shells and lounged on boulders, catching up on podcasts. As you walk away from Hazards Beach and continue clockwise on the trail, keep an eye out for some secluded little ‘private beaches’, they’re hidden gems that add to the charm of the hike.
