bericht van Kieran - Exploring Scotland

The Falls of Foyers, located in Highland, Scotland, are a stunning pair of waterfalls on the River Foyers that flow into Loch Ness. With an upper falls dropping 46 feet and a lower falls cascading down 98 feet, these falls were once a popular tourist spot until an aluminium smelting plant was built in 1895, reducing their flow significantly. Despite this, the site has been repurposed for hydroelectric power generation, with a 300 MW pumped storage scheme now in place, showcasing the blend of natural beauty and modern technology at this picturesque location.
