Hanoi, Vietnam

Hanoi isn’t a city you “master” with a plan. It’s one you move through fluidly. Locals mix walking, scooters, and short rides depending on mood, weather, and hunger.

Grab is the easiest way to get around, especially if you’re covering more than a few streets or it’s hot. The Grab App is very easy to use and similar to Uber. Short rides are incredibly cheap, and it saves your energy for wandering, eating, and exploring properly. Walking is great for soaking up the atmosphere, but distances can feel longer than expected once the heat and crowds kick in.

When crossing roads, don’t wait for silence. It won’t come. Walk slowly and confidently, keep a steady pace, and let scooters flow around you. Locals aren’t trying to hit you. They’re predicting your movement. It can be daunting at first, but don’t hesitate, just go!
