Hornstrandir is a unique nature reserve located in the Icelandic North West Fjords. It encompasses an area of 580 square kilometres of tundra, cliffs, flowering fields and ice and has been preserved since 1975. The region boasts a number of diverse wildlife such as Arctic Foxes, migrating birds, field mice and many species of flora and fauna. Adventure-seekers will be able to take part in activities like hiking, camping and exploring Hornvík Bay. For the more intrepid explorer, there is the chance to visit neighbouring Drangajökull, Iceland’s only glacier and to explore the two largest bird cliffs in Europe. No matter who you are or what you want to do, Hornstrandir offers something for everyone looking to experience some wild Icelandic beauty!
