The Paekakariki to Pukerua Bay Escarpment Track is a 9.1 km single track walk that offers spectacular views over the Kāpiti Coastline and Kapiti Island. Taking between 3-4 hours to complete, it is an intermediate tramping track that features 1,200 steep steps as well as narrow pathways across ridgelines and two swing bridges. It is a great educational experience for families of all ages, with visitors being able to access the track from either Paekākāriki or Pukerua Bay in one hour by vehicle or train. This adventure is particularly not recommended for people with vertigo, as climbing to a peak of 217 m above sea level takes quite a bit of strenuous hiking. Furthermore, dogs and cycling are not allowed in this park.
