The easiest summit route: a 6 km roundātrip with ~260 m climb. Hike about 1.5 hours before sunset to reach the summit in golden light. Only few make it up there, so youāll often have the sky to yourself. Bring a headlamp for the walk back.

Less crowded in the evening than at sunrise, and arguably more spectacular. For best views, walk 1 km out toward the āStairway to Heavenā path just before it gets dark ā it frames the ridge perfectly.

Perched at ~1,000āÆm, Encumeada offers panoramic sunsets over the North and South ocean horizons. A little-known alternative is Pico Alto Encumeada, ~1,750āÆm elevation ā 20 min off-route from Achada do Teixeira. Raw and rarely visited.
