The Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, once the personal residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding leader of Bangladesh, was a historic site in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. It witnessed significant events like the hoisting of the flag of Bangladesh and the declaration of independence. After Sheikh Mujib's assassination in 1975, the house was converted into a museum by his daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Unfortunately, in 2024, during protests against the government, the museum was set on fire and partially destroyed, leading to its eventual demolition in 2025.
