The Altes Rathaus Regensburg is a historic building complex in the heart of the Bavarian city. Dating back to as early as the 13th century, the building consists of three distinct, interconnected structures: a 55-meter high Ratsturm Tower at the Kohlenmarkt Plaza and two grand, stately buildings – the Reichssaalgebäude and Portalbau respectively. Inside, visitors can explore the historical venues including a prison cell and torture chamber, the Oberbürgermeister's reception chamber, a tourist information center in the Reichssaalgebäude, as well as an art gallery that hosts paintings from the 16th century depicting prominent figures of the Immerwährenden Reichstag legislature. With a fascinating blend of architectural styles and unique history, the Altes Rathaus Regensburg is certainly worth a visit for culture enthusiasts.
