Ths arch in Canyonlands National Park is a short and easy hike that leads to a stunning cliff-edge arch with panoramic views of the canyon below and the La Sal Mountains in the distance. It's a popular spot for photographers, especially at sunrise when the arch glows with the first light of day. The trail is not wheelchair accessible and can be rocky and uneven, so wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for some elevation changes.

Entrance Fees:

To access Canyonlands National Park, an entrance fee is required:

  • Private Vehicle: $30 (admits one private, non-commercial vehicle and all its occupants)

  • Motorcycle: $25

  • Individual (on foot or bicycle): $15 per person (ages 16 and older)

These passes are valid for seven consecutive days from the date of purchase.

Pets:

Pets are not allowed on the Mesa Arch Trail or any hiking trails within Canyonlands National Park. They are also prohibited at overlooks, in the visitor center, and in the backcountry. However, leashed pets are permitted in established front-country areas such as campgrounds, picnic areas, and along paved scenic drives and parking lots.

Photography Tips:

The best time to photograph Mesa Arch is during the early morning hours, especially at sunrise when the arch is illuminated by the soft, golden light. The surrounding canyon and La Sal Mountains provide a stunning backdrop, making it a favorite spot for photographers. Remember to bring a tripod and be mindful of other visitors during peak times.

Safety Note:

The area around Mesa Arch can be hazardous, especially near the cliff edges. Always stay behind the safety barriers and keep a safe distance from the edge. Supervise children closely and avoid climbing on the arch.
