Located off the Richardson highway, chances are you'll see the large parking lot before you see the trailhead - which follows the frozen river. This is why it's essential to only go when you know the river is fully frozen to allow walking - I recommend going only if you see plenty of other hikers. With a half mile hike each way, this spot is usually very busy on a nice day. Before you visit, it's essential to know that glacier caves can collapse at any time - and a portion of it has collapsed since even when we visited. Watch our visit to the ice cave here.
