This spectacular monument shaped by nature was created ages ago when lava flowed over wetland. The steam lifted the lava shaping pillars that fell onto each other creating the impression of window arches. It is truly spectacular and I love strolling around the area. It is rich in paths, with different lengths that you should carefully choose according to how much time you wanna spend there. If you are on a tight schedule, you should go to the Gatklettur, but take as much time as you can!
