Sprutz Waterfall is a must see hidden gem located along the scenic North Face Trail near Mürren, Switzerland. This unique waterfall has an enchanting feature— you can actually WALK BEHIND IT ..so cool! Enjoy the mist and refreshing spray of water, adding an adventurous twist to your hike.

🧭 How to get there:

To reach Sprutz, start in the alpine village of Mürren, (accessible by cable car from Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg).

From Mürren, take the Allmendhubel funicular up to the Allmendhubel station, which serves as a gateway to the North Face Trail.

Following the North Face Trail:

Once on the North Face Trail, follow the well-marked path toward the Schwarzwaldalp and Spilboden areas. Along this part of the trail, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and the valley below, with peaceful sections dotted with wildflowers and the sound of cowbells.

Watch for signs pointing toward Sprutz Waterfall, as it requires a short but slightly steep detour from the main trail. You’ll descend through a wooded area, navigating some rocky, uneven terrain. The trail to the waterfall can be somewhat challenging, with steep sections through the forest that lack railings, so sturdy footwear and caution are recommended. As you get closer, you’ll hear the sound of the waterfall before you see it.

Once you arrive, you’ll find a unique path that leads behind the waterfall. Step under the spray to experience the cool mist and take in the view . It’s a fantastic photo opportunity! Enjoy!

From here, you have options: either loop back toward Mürren or follow the trail downhill to Gimmelwald, another charming village that offers cable car access back to Stechelberg.

📆Best time to visit: (June to Sept) Snow and ice can make the trail more challenging in colder seasons as I found on our visit in mid Sept .
