Downhill Strand beach forms the eastern end of a magnificent 7 mile stretch of sand and surf centred on the town of Castlerock. The beach at Downhill runs from just west of Castlerock to Magilligan Point.

Some of the most scenic coastline of Northern Ireland is found right here! There are fantastic views along the cliffs that back the beach, along the length of the beach there are sand dunes and even a waterfall.

This stretch of beach is one of the most scenic in Northern Ireland, you can enjoy views to counties Donegal, Antrim and Derry/Londonderry.It’s another of my favourite childhood places that I just love coming back to! I think you’re going to love it too!

The most iconic feature here is the Mussenden Temple which sits precariously close to the edge of the high cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

🎬 Recently the beach at Downhill was used as a location for Dragonstone in the Game of Thrones. This is where the Seven Idols of Westeros were burned.
