bericht van Tartan Viking

The Clava Cairns form a fascinating part of Scotland's Bronze Age past. Located to the east of Inverness, the Clava Cairns consist of over 50 cairns, which typically include a corbelled passage grave with a single burial chamber linked to the entrance by a short passage and covered with a cairn of stones. This tomb is often encircled by a stone circle and surrounded by a kerb which varies in height to create a dramatic sun-catching effect at different times of day. Particular interest is drawn to the three Balnuaran of Clava cairns, which also incorporate cup-and-ring mark stones and their generously-sized and red-hued kerbstones - a must-see sight for anyone visiting the area!
