All stores are closed on Sundays, including grocery stores. You’ll need to grab all your essentials before the stores close on Saturday nights. If there’s a German holiday, you can also expect all the stores to be closed.

Most stores will charge you a small fee if you need a bag to carry your stuff. This includes grocery stores and retail. It’s best to bring your own bags.

When you grocery shop, you should bring some Euro coins (2, 1, 0.50) to unlock the shopping carts.

Shop for groceries at:

  • Lidl

  • Aldi

  • Edeka

  • Netto

  • Rewe

  • Friday Farmer's Market

Garmisch is full of outdoor stores. You can practically find one on every corner. The nicest one, with the most high-end products is Sport Conrad. The one we like best for budget is Hervis.

If you need to find some clothes for any reason, there’s an H&M, C&A, Esprit, Takko, and Erstings Family.

To find cosmetics and toiletries go to DM or Müller. Medicine is found at the apothekes in town.

Best Places for Souvenirs:

  • Servus Heimat (in the train station)

  • Frösch König

  • Sophie+
