bericht van Priscila Portela

The National Congress of Brazil is the country's legislative body, made up of two houses: the Federal Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. The Senate represents the states and the Federal District, with three senators from each region serving eight-year terms. On the other hand, the Chamber of Deputies represents the people of each state and has 513 federal deputies elected for four-year terms. The Congress meets annually in Brasília, where its iconic building, designed by Oscar Niemeyer, stands as a symbol of Brazilian democracy.
