The Ramesseum, a funerary temple dedicated to the god Amon and the deceased King Ramses II, is famous for its massive 57-foot seated statue of Ramses II. It stands as an iconic reminder of his rule and legacy in Egyptian history. Located in Thebes, Egypt, the walls are adorned with scene depicting Ramses notable battles and festivals. Not only was it mentioned in themes by the Greek historian Diodorus Siculus, but also served as the muse for Percy Bysshe Shelley’s poem ‘Osymandias”. Today, as visitors wander throuigh these ancient ruins they can imagine the epic stories carved into the walls and appreciate this marvellous monument that has stood the test of time.
