The Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge is an impressive feat of engineering and a popular Boston landmarK. Completed in 2003, this cable-stayed bridge spans the Charles River and connects the North End and Charlestown areas of Boston. This iconic structure was designed by Swiss civil engineer Christian Menn and built as part of the Big Dig, one of the largest highway construction projects in US history. The Zakim Bridge offers stunning nighttime views, with the Lechmere Viaduct lit up on the right and Five Beacons for the Lost Half Mile public artworks illuminating the path below. For bikers and pedestrians, the adjacent North Bank Pedestrian Bridge provides a great way to explore the city's best sights while making the most of its beautiful landscapes.
