This is one of my favorite spots on Maui. I used to live close to here and to me, it’s “Maui” but most visitors are surprised to find something like this here. 

Ulupalakua Ranch has been a working cattle ranch since the 1800s. Nestled upcountry on the slopes of Haleakala, this is cowboy country with the most perfect views of the ocean.

The Ulupalakua Ranch Store feels like a nostalgic general store with merch, homemade goods, and also…the best burgers on Maui. 

The grill is open Tuesday through Sunday 11AM-4PM. They grill burgers (and other plate lunch specials) on the back porch and you can choose from beef, venison, lamb, elk or taro. It’s an experience. 

It’s also right across the street from MauiWine so it pairs perfectly with a tasting there (you’ll need reservations. 

The drive out to Ulupalakua is one of my favorites on Maui (pull over and enjoy the views!). It’s also usually a little chillier up here (especially in the mornings and evenings) so bring a jacket.
