Goðafoss Waterfall, known as the ‘Waterfall of the Gods’, is a stunning spectacle situated in the northeastern region of Iceland. This beautiful waterfall spans approximately 100 feet wide and cascades 39 feet down into a tranquil pool below. The name stems from an integral moment in Iceland's history when the Asatru Priest Thorgeir Ljosvetningagodi made the decision that Christianity would be the official religion, but pagans could privately practice their beliefs. Apart from the religious history this majestic site embodies, visitors have the opportunity to explore the surrounding area such as Myvatn Nature Baths and the Diamond Circle, which includes Dettifoss Waterfall, Asbyrgi Canyon and Husavik – renowned for its whale watching! With convenient access from Reykjavík, there is no better time to take a trip here and delve into the natural charm of Iceland.
