Kathleen Lake is a breathtakingly beautiful and tranquil lake situated within Kluane National Park and Reserve. It is especially noteworthy for its exceptionally clear waters and the presence of kokanee salmon, which are a landlocked population of sockeye living solely in freshwater bodies. This lake is also home to a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities, such as day-use areas, boat launches, campgrounds, and hiking trails. The most popular trail is King's Throne, an awe-inspiring natural amphitheatre overlooking the lake with stunning views. Visitors of Kathleen Lake come for the gorgeous views and leave feeling reborn.

Eryn's Tips:

  • This lake is amazing to visit in both the winter and the summer months! In the winter, you can walk out onto the lake or take a snowmobile out to explore. In the summer, you can kayak or canoe, camp at the campground, or walk along the walking path on the right side of the lake! The path is a boardwalk, which makes it great for those who may need flatter ground, and it leads to the iconic Parks Canada red Adirondack chairs.

  • The campground is located away from the lake, and it does take a few minutes to make it down to the lake from camp. This is a National Park campground, so their booking system is different from most other campgrounds in the Yukon.

  • There is a meeting area that is covered and has a wood stove and picnic tables. You can use this unless there is some sort of event going on, and it's a great place to eat lunch and get inside to relax.
