bericht van Pálína Axelsdóttir Njarðvík

Visit an old turf house and get to know how Icelanders lived, people lived in this turf house until 1947! The farmhouse you can visit consists of 13 buildings, the newest one being built in 1876-79. The oldest parts of the house date back to the 18th century.

Today this site has been declared as a protected site and is owned and run by the national museum of Iceland. There is a small cafe here, a room where you can see old Iceland through virtual reality and a church.
