Dallas Divide is a mountain pass in Colorado that sits at an elevation of 8,983 feet. It's like a saddle between the San Juan Mountains and the Uncompahgre Plateau, dividing the Uncompahgre River watershed from the San Miguel River watershed. The name comes from Dallas Creek, which flows into the Uncompahgre River. Back in the day, there was a toll road over the divide connecting Ridgway to Telluride, and later a railroad was built there too. So basically, it's a cool spot where nature and history come together in the mountains of Colorado and an easy stop on the highway.
