The Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, located on the most south-westerly point of mainland Australia in Western Australia, was built in 1895 and stands at 39 meters tall. Originally designed with two lights, only the higher white light was installed. The lighthouse was automated in 1982 and now serves as both a navigational aid and an automatic weather station. Visitors can climb the 176 steps to the viewing deck for a stunning view of the surrounding area. Plus, fun fact: German World War I war hero Felix von Luckner briefly worked here before his adventurous seafaring days!
