A Capital View! The Scott Monument is a massive Gothic tower in Edinburgh, Scotland, dedicated to the famous Scottish author Sir Walter Scott. It is the second highest monument to a writer in the whole world! Standing tall in Princes Street Gardens, it offers breathtaking views of the city from its multiple viewing platforms. Free to see or a small fee to climb you will have to climb 287 steps to reach the highest one though, so be prepared for a workout! The monument is adorned with statues of characters from Scott's novels and even has a marble statue of Scott himself, chilling with his dog. It's a pretty cool spot to visit if you're into literature or just want to enjoy some killer views of Edinburgh. Between 1814 and 1820 Walter Scott provided a rapturous public with a series of romantic novels including 'Rob Roy'. With 'Ivanhoe' in December 1819, he reached the pinnacle of sales a popular author
