The Church of St. James on Coudenberg, located in the Royal Quarter of Brussels, is an iconic neo-classical church said to date back as far as 1776. It is a place of many events, having been consecrated by the Austrian Government, home to Leopold I's swearing-in, andmilitary chapel since 1986. The Church is dedicated to Saint James, one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus. It’s exterior remnants display sculptures of King David and Moses on the portico, and three blue stone statues (representing Saints John, Andrew, and James) decorating a classical triangular pediment. All that makes it a marvellous sight! Inside, the interiror provides just as much beauty as the outer part, with built-in Corinthian columns and inscriptions remembering the fallen soldiers of the First World War. Such an exemplary piece of architecture will surely keep your jaw dropped.
