Big Basin Redwoods State Park, nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains, is a nature lover's paradise boasting ancient coast redwoods, some over 50 feet around and as tall as the Statue of Liberty. Established in 1902, it's California's oldest state park with diverse habitats, wildlife, and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. In 2020 the CZU Lightning Complex Fire burned much of the park, resulting it in being closed for a number of years. The park is now open with limited access, offering hiking, biking, and horseback riding opportunities in certain areas, so we strongly recommend checking the CA State Parks website for trail closure info before visiting.
