Budapest is one of the most photogenic cities in Europe, and honestly, it’s one of those places that looks just as beautiful in real life as it does in photos. If you love city views, historic architecture, and classic skyline shots, there are so many great places here — but a few stand out way more than the rest.

If you only want one iconic Budapest photo, go to Batthyány tér on the Buda side of the Danube. This is hands down one of the best views of the Hungarian Parliament. You get the full building across the river, and it’s especially beautiful at sunrise or in the evening when it lights up. In my opinion, this is the best Parliament photo spot in the city.

Another must is Fisherman’s Bastion, especially early in the morning. The views over the rooftops, the Danube, and Parliament are incredible, and the architecture of the bastion itself makes every angle look beautiful. My honest tip here: the free terraces are enough. You really don’t need to pay for the upper part to get amazing photos.

For a different kind of Budapest shot, Liberty Bridge is a great one. It’s one of the city’s most beautiful bridges, and from here you get great views toward the Danube, Gellért Hill, and the surrounding architecture. It’s especially nice around golden hour or when the city starts to light up.

If you’re looking for something more romantic and classic, the area around St. Stephen’s Basilica is perfect. The square, the surrounding streets, and the view from the top (if you go up) all make for great photos. It’s also one of those areas that just feels elegant no matter what time of day you go.

For a more peaceful and slightly underrated photo spot, I’d also recommend Kossuth Lajos Square in front of Parliament. It’s not just a good place to see the building up close — the open space, symmetry, and clean lines make it one of the nicest urban photo spots in the city.

If you’re visiting in winter, City Park Ice Rink is also one of the most magical seasonal photo spots. Skating with Vajdahunyad Castle in the background feels like a movie scene. And even if you’re not skating, the whole area is incredibly photogenic.

My biggest tip for photography in Budapest: go early. Sunrise is honestly the best time for so many of the city’s iconic places. The light is softer, there are fewer people, and the atmosphere feels much more special. If you’re planning your days around photos, Budapest rewards early mornings.
