Charming Arctic town with icebergs
Come along this tour, discovering the hidden corners and gems of Ilulissat city! This tour is for anyone curious for what life 300 kilometers above the arctic circle is like, and how Ilulissat has come to be, by learning about its past.
Ilulissat was founded in 1741, and is today Greenlands third largest town, with over 4500 inhabitants. Ilulissat was named after the many wonders of ice, floating around in the Icefjord and means iceberg.
Your guide of the day will tell you the story of Ilulissat, about the Greenlandic culture and the modern life 300 kilometers above the arctic circle. While strolling through town, we will stop by the local fish market ’’brættet’’’, pass the arctic explorer Knud Rasmussen's childhood home and the old wooden Zion church.
See the viewpoints and snap some good pictures of the pretty houses, sled dog puppies and huge icebergs.

This view consists of an interesting contrast between the residential street, the sea, and the icebergs in the background. The street curves sharply downward and disappears from sight.
Evening:
Try the Greenlandic cuisine, such as musk ox or reindeer, at a local restaurant like Hotel Arctic or Hotel Hvide Falk's restaurant.
