bericht van Line Hedegaard

Egedesminde, now known as Aasiaat, is a town in Greenland that was founded in 1759 by Niels Egede, son of Norwegian missionary Hans Egede. Originally located north of Nordre Strømfjord, the town was later moved to its current site in 1763. It was a hub for whalers, but unfortunately, smallpox brought by the villagers devastated the native population in the 1770s. Over time, Aasiaat has grown and developed into a vibrant community with various industries and amenities.
