Il Gigante (Statue of the Giant) is a statue located in Monterosso al Mare, just by the sea. It stands at 14 meters high and is an image of Neptune atop the waves. The statue quickly became a symbol of the town, immortalized in postcards of the era. To this day, Il Gigante remains an iconic and beloved part of Monterosso's identity, a reminder of a time gone by and a testament to its resilience.

It's an easy miss as it's located on the opposite side of the town. While you arrive by train in Monterosso al Mare you'll likely head to the town centre (on your left from the station), the statue is on your right from the station.

There's also a small beach in front of it, which is a bit less crowded than the one right outside the station.
