bericht van Francesco Meola

The Camerette di Sant'Ignazio, or small rooms dedicated to Saint Ignatius, are a set of intimate spaces close to the Church of the Gesus. These rooms feature remarkable frescoes painted by the renowned Baroque artist Andrea Pozzo, the same mastermind behind the illusionistic dome in the church of Saint Ignatius nave.

The corridor painted by Andrea Pozzo showcase scenes from the life of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, and it was my favourite part of the rooms of Saint Ignatius. The level of details and the perspective illusion are incredible.

Surprisingly, it's not a very well-known place, and unless you know about it, it's hard to come across. Just to be able to admire Pozzo's wonderful work, it's worth visiting.
