A hilltop setting, elegant terraced gardens, and sweeping views over the valley create a visit that feels both intimate and elevated. This is not just a monument, but a lived-in place where history still feels present.

The Château d’Ansouis, overlooking the village of Ansouis in the Luberon, dates from the 10th to the 18th century. Originally built as a medieval fortress, it gradually evolved into a refined residence, blending defensive architecture with the elegance of later periods.

What makes this château different is the experience itself. Visits are guided only and led by the owners, offering a more personal insight into the history, architecture, and daily life within the residence. Inside, rooms are furnished with period pieces, giving a clear sense of life during the Ancien Régime.

Outside, the French-style gardens and terraces open onto wide views across the Vallée d’Aigues, making this one of the most scenic stops in the southern Luberon.

👉 Local Tip: Plan your visit around the guided tour schedule and arrive early to walk through Ansouis village first. The contrast between the quiet streets and the château views makes the experience more complete.
