Cardrona Hotel and Restaurant is excellent as a road trip stop or as a base to explore Wanaka.
I LOVE this hotel and it's beautiful gardens, rustic exterior, great food and hot tub.
Recommend a ground floor room otherwise you have to carry your bags up the stairs.
