The kitesurfing capital of Sri Lanka, most people who come to Kalpitiya are already keen kitesurfers or want to learn to kitesurf.
There are some really nice stretches of beach and from October to March you can whale watch and bird watch in the region too. The winds are calmer at this time but you can still kitesurf in the mornings usually.
The best time to kitesurf is April to September when winds are constant and quite strong. Other activities aren't ideal at this time but the beaches are still nice.
