Roys Peak Track is one of our favorite hikes in New Zealand. The trail is 16.4 km out and back with an elevation gain of 1,284 m, making it challenging but incredibly rewarding.
The track climbs steadily through farmland and tussock-covered slopes, opening up to breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Wanaka and surrounding mountains. The final stretch to the summit is steep, but reaching the top and soaking in the scenery is unforgettable. It’s a tough hike, but the views make every step worth it.
