Just a short stroll from 3390 Deronda Drive lies one of the most photogenic and accessible views of the Hollywood Sign—from directly below. Unlike the summit viewpoint behind the sign, this lower spot lets you face the iconic letters head-on, framed beautifully by the hillside above. A fully paved short walk up Mt. Hollywood Drive takes you to a curve where the sign towers overhead—symmetrical, close, and without obstructions.
Come in the late afternoon when soft light hits the hillside—and stop here on your way up to Mount Lee to see the sign from above (described separately in this guide). This isn’t a major hike—just 20 minutes round-trip and only ~75 ft/23 m of elevation gain. The pedestrian gate beside the stone wall at 3390 Deronda Drive is open from sunrise to sunset, but exiting the gate is possible at any time.
🅿️ Parking: No legal parking at Deronda. Best to park along Lake Hollywood Drive near Lake Hollywood Park and walk uphill (~40-45 min).
🚇 Public Transport: Limited. Exit at Hollywood/Vine Metro Station and use a ride share to reach the trailhead (cell reception near Deronda may be spotty).
