Surrounded by rugged mountains, Lake Agnes is very pretty and also has a quaint Teahouse (bring cash). It is a very popular hike from Lake Louise. So popular, in fact, that the shores of the little lake can get pretty crowded.

Despite its popularity, the trail to Lake Agnes is not easy for people who are not regular hikers. The journey to the lake features a steady uphill the whole way - 385m elevation gain in 3.4km. Parks Canada rates it as a moderate for this reason.

The long switchback route to the lake also passes Mirror Lake (a good place for a break if you need it). Allow 2.5 hours return to Lake Agnes, longer if you don't hike often.

After checking out Lake Agnes, I would recommend continuing onto the Little Beehive (extra 2km return) or Big Beehive (extra 3.2km return). Both are uphill but have fabulous views and you'll 80% of the crowd behind.

Experienced hikers may also enjoy summiting nearby Mount Saint Piran or connecting to the Plain of Six Glaciers Trail via the Highline Trail.

A Parks Canada parks pass is required to explore Banff National Park - $22/day for a vehicle of up to 7 people. To reach Lake Louise, you'll need to pay for parking $36.75, use the Parks Canada shuttle bus ($8/person), ROAM Transit 8x bus ($10) or book a private shuttle.
