If you are on a budget, a great cost-saving tip is to stay outside of Zermatt. The Matterhorn Inn in Täsch is just a few stops away from Zermatt and right opposite the train station. All rooms come with a bathroom (shower or bath) with nclude free unlimited wifi, TV, coffee/tea-making facilities, plus some roomhave balconies with views of the alps. For a three star hotel, it even comes with a fitness centre and a sauna, and that is a BIG plus. Another great advantage is that it is very close to the Migros supermarket so it's convenient for you to buy snacks and groceries for your dinner/breakfast.

In summer, Täsch and the surrounding regions have plenty of hiking trails to explore - and in winter, there's 20km of cross country skiing trails!
