Kerid Crater, also known as Kerið, is a volcanic crater lake located in South Iceland

Location: Kerid Crater is situated along the Golden Circle route, near the town of Selfoss. It is approximately 70 kilometers (43 miles) east of Reykjavik.

Accessibility: The crater is easily accessible by car. From Reykjavik, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) east, then Route 35 north. Kerid is well-signposted and has a designated parking area nearby.

Best Time to Visit: Kerid can be visited year-round. In summer (June to August), the lush vegetation around the crater is at its peak, while winter (December to February) offers a chance to see the lake partially frozen and surrounded by snow.

Trail: There is a walking path around the rim of the crater, offering excellent views from different angles. A path also leads down to the lake's edge, allowing visitors to experience the crater from below.

Facilities: There are no facilities directly at Kerid Crater, but the nearby towns of Selfoss and Hveragerði offer restaurants, restrooms, and other amenities.

Entrance Fee: There is a 600 KR(approx 4.5 USD) entrance fee to visit Kerid Crater, which helps with the maintenance and preservation of the site.
