- Um resumo: A construção da torre começou em 1173 e levou quase 200 anos, com interrupções devido ao solo instável que causou a inclinação inicial. Após várias tentativas de correção, a torre foi concluída em 1372. Ao longo dos séculos, continuou a inclinar-se, levando a restaurações modernas, incluindo uma grande estabilização entre 1990 e 2001 que reduziu a inclinação para cerca de 3,97 graus. A torre é um ícone da engenharia medieval e foi declarada Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO em 1987.
