For a slightly different view of Mount Cook from Lake Pukaki, and also an amazing Freedom Camping Spot if you have a self contained vehicle, this location is just on the shoreline in the area designated for Freedom Camping at Lake Pukaki.

The exact address for the turn off into the Freedom Camping area is 4587 Tekapo-Twizel Road, Pukaki 7999. Then head slightly to your right and you will see the location.

I have only been to this spot during the day (which was beautiful) but for golden light on Mount Cook I would suggest being there at sunset or sunrise. Take your mid range zoom lens for this spot.
