This is Patrick Leigh Fermor's house in Kardamyli, Messenia, Peloponnese.
Fermor was a renowned British traveler and writer who had a deep passion and love for Greece and all things Greece. He found this corner in Kardamyli, surrounded by olive trees, cypress trees and all kinds of thick vegetation, overlooking the sea and decided with his wife Joan to build a house where the two would reside for the rest of their lives.
This house is truly an artifact of simple, yet impressive architecture, blending beautifully with the surrounding nature. A beautiful indoor library, big open spaces for the gatherings that the Fermor couple used to hold at times.
Nowadays, this house is a museum that people can visit. However, it's possible to stay as well! Which can be quite expensive, as a weekly rate would be around 40,000 euros for a family stay.
A recommended visit if you are in the area!
